The vampire diaries

I started reading a new serie after finishing the trueblood books. This serie is called The vampire diaries, and is written by L.J Smith. I bought volume one and volume two, and I have finished them both. In this blog entry I will write about volume one. I also ordered book number 5 and 6 and hope they will come in my mailbox after the weekend, it's weird not having any books to read everyday.

This serie is about a girl named Elena Gillbert. Her parents has passed away so she and her four-year-old sister Margaret lives with their aunt Judith. She is in high school and is a very popular girl. This semester a new guy moves to the little town, Fells church. His name is Stefan Salvatore (he is a vampire, but this is unknown) and he is italian. Elena immediately wants him, and starts to work on a plan to get him.

My first thoughts when i started reading was that a lot was very similiar to the twilight books by Stephenie Meyer. It might not sound like it since in the twilight books it was the girl who moved to the vampires town and not the other way around and she was a shy girl. but if you read both series like I've done I think you would feel the similarities as well.

Further Elenas plan to seduce and get Stefans attention is harder then she is used to, he seems to complety ignore her. It's not before prom night and a guy named Tyler assaults Elena that Stefan shows another side of himself ans rescues Elena. The two of them goes back to the boarding house where Stefan lives. Here Elena asks him straight out why he seems to hate her so much, and he answars that she reminds him of another girl he used to know.

Elena and Stefan warms up to eachother and one day Elena finds out about his secret. She finds him while he is sucking the blood out of a bird and realises that he is a vampire. Elena finds it in her heart that she accept that and that she loves Stefan just the way he is, and the feeling is then returned by him. After this stefan tells Elena everything. He tells about his life as a human and that he is from the time of the Italian renaissance and that the girl Elena reminds him of is Katherine. Katherine was a girl and a vampire that both Stefan and his older brother Damon loved. She couldn't choose beetween them so she gave them both vampire blood and then she exposed herself to sunlight so she died. Stefan and Damon had blamed eachother and stabbed eachother with swords in the chest. Because of the amount of vampireblood in ther vains they had recover from death and woken up as vampires.

Damon is a bad guy, he likes to hold sides with the devil. He still hates Stefan and blames him for everything. Stefan is more of a nice guy and blames him self but hates his brother for choosing evil. Elena gets tangled up in this whole thing as Damon comes to Fells church and tries too contact her and asks if she could join evil with him.

Elena has two bestfriends; Meredith and Bonnie. They used to be four bestfriends, but caroline now hates Elena due to the fact that Caroline wanted Stefan in the beginning as well. Caroline has now stolen Elenas diary where she has put her most personal feelings on paper and is planning to read it out loud to the whole town on the day of the anniversal of the towns foundation. Things get to much for Elena this day so she takes her car and drives when a strong power creates a huge storm and manages to get Elenas car to fall into the river.

Stefan, Bonnie and Meredith finds her in the river, but when Stefan rescues her it is already too late. He gets furious and think his brother is behind Elenas death. Stefan tells the girls to go home because this could be dangerous and he tells them that he will put Elena under the oak trees so that they will find her later. He is planning to fight his brother until one of them dies.
While Stefan and Damon is fighting, Elena wakes up. She has had her amount of vampireblood as well.

So after finishing this book i don't find it so similar to the twilight books anymore. But I was very curious for what would happen next, and I guess you are too. So stay tuned for the next blog entry when I'll write about volume 2.

Finished with the trueblood books, for now

I finnished the ninth book in the trueblood series before the easter break. Now I have to wait for book number ten to continue on the exiting story. Online it says that it is due to be realesed around the end of this month. Anyway, the ninth book left me with curiosity.

You see, Sookie figures out that her great grandfather is actually a ancient fairy, so she have fairy blood in her. but the discovery is not all pleasure, because in the fairy world there in a conflict going on between sookies great grandfather and another fairy. The other faries helpers captures Sookie and torture her badly, intending to kill her. Bill Compton, Sookies first boyfriend (and vampire if you remember) comes to her rescue but gets badly hurt. But Eric Northman (Sookies "boyfriend" wich she is blood bonded too) doesn't show until she is rescued and the face to face war with the faires starts. The battle ends in favour of sookie, her great grandfather and his team and the vampires.

Her great grandfather decides to close the gate between fairy world and human world so there won't be any more trouble. It turned out to be a short acquaintance beetwen Sookie and her great grandfather but he says his proper goodbye. But (this is where the curiosity comes..) the last thing he says before he leaves and closes the gate forever is; that nice vampire man really loves you, you know. He is gone before Sookie get the time to ask wich one, bill or eric? And I wonder about the same thing. Not even sure who I am voting for, time will see..

True Blood

I am reading the trueblood books. I chose these books because I heard about this new serie starting on TV and that they were based on Charlaine Harris' books, and usually the books are always better than the movies/tv-series so I wanted to read the books instead. The books is about a woman named Sookie Stackhouse who lives in Bon Temps, America. Vampires has become known to the whole world and she meets one, Bill, who becomes her boyfriend. I am now reading the 8th book, Bill and Sookie is not a couple anymore but she has a few other supernatural beeings as candidats for boyfriends. Fairies, werewolf, shifters, demons and vampires has become a part of Sookies life during the two years since she met Bill. I think the books are really interesting and I recieved an e-mail yesterday that book nr.10 is beeing realesed in a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to that.
